David and Debbie co-founded Spark of Life in 2008. They have four children, Adam and his wife Rebekka, Sara and her husband Jason, Kelly and her husband Joel, and Chuck and his wife Shelly. Adam and Rebekka’s first child, Josiah, was born in 2007 and passed away a few minutes later. Josiah became the inspiration for the Spark of Life Foundation. David and Debbie have four granddaughters, Maddy, Scotti, Lily, and Reya.
David now serves as Executive Director, and Debbie as Retreat Co-ordinator. Both are Certified Specialists in Grief Recovery.
Rusty and Nancy attended the first Spark of Life Retreat in June 2010. After being deeply moved by their retreat experience, they came to David and Debbie and said, “We want to do whatever we can to help you and Spark of Life.” Since then, they have helped lead the Spark of Life Retreats with Debbie and David.
Nancy and Rusty have three children and four grandchildren. Rusty is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and a Licensed Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC). Both Rusty and Nancy are Certified Specialists in Grief Recovery. Their loss and recovery experience has prepared them well for this work.
Barry and Jeannie Steger
Barry and Jeannie Steger joined the Spark of Life team in March of 2013. Barry and Jeannie have been married since 1976 They have three children: Andrew, 33, married to Virginia; Scott, 31, married to Christina; and Elizabeth, 26. Liam Steger, 4, their first grandchild, Corinne, age 2 and Penny now 22 months all call them GiGi and Poppa Bear and they “love it.” Barry serves as Executive Director of Development, he brings 38 years of fund raising experience and is a needed addition to the Spark of Life team.
